The Nile is the longest river in the world and its basin covers approximately 10% of the African continent. Eleven countries are riparian to the basin. However, the GERD's location in the Blue Nile sub-basin create direct impacts on the lower riparian countries: Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt. Use map controls (upper right) to change layers to investigate the Nile Basin, dam development on the Nile, and the GERD project. Data and map assets assembled from multiple sources, including GRAND, GADM, TFDD and WikiPedia.
